Shana has been in the nutrition world for 20 years. Her first job was in weight management, and the go-to strategy was calorie restriction. Shana’s clients would be very successful in the first 3-4 months of that regimen, but then eventually regain all their weight.  At the time, Shana simply did not understand that it was an issue of insulin.

In 2016, Shana’s son had been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. She researched nutrition and natural therapies and found a natural health clinic that helped her son. She loved their approach and got a job as one of their clinicians. Knowing Shana had a background in weight management, the clinic owner asked her to create a weight loss plan. This was how Shana found intermittent fasting. She discovered The Obesity Code, and listened to Dr. Fung’s podcasts. Shana also read Delay, Don’t Deny, and listened to the IF Stories podcast. It was thrilling for Shana to finally understand why her clients always struggled to keep the weight off! Once she changed her approach, all 18 participants in her weight loss program had incredible results using IF.

Shana eventually left the clinic to work with her own clients, and to write her book, Fast to Heal, A 5 Step Guide to Reversing Insulin Resistance.

The advice she’d give new IFers: “Look for more than weight loss. Look for things you weren’t expecting, like health benefits! Embrace IF. Give it a month. Meet your body where it is today.”

    Hi, Gin!
I just started doing Intermittent Fasting about two weeks ago, and so far I’ve lost about 10 pounds!
I have been a paraplegic since March 2014, and gained a Huge amount of weight from just sitting, eating, and not exercising. I’m so glad that I finally found You and this lifestyle!
I would very much like to get on your Facebook, the one you have posted after each of these stories tells me it is not working! Is there something I can do so that I can join your Facebook? (The one that says “Connect with Gin on Facebook” does Not work)
    Thank you! Donna
